BUFFALO GROVE WOMAN CHARGED IN EARLY MORNING STABBING

On Saturday, April 15, 2017, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Buffalo Grove Police Officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 800 block of Trace Drive in Buffalo Grove, for a domestic dispute.

The caller, Lourdes Cazares, requested assistance regarding an argument between herself and her roommate, Nancy Balladares. Both women met officers outside the apartment building, along with a 32-year-old male roommate who aided in the conciliation, and the situation was mediated.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., Buffalo Grove police officers were called back to the apartment due to the report of a person having been stabbed with a knife.

Arriving officers located Balladares fighting with the male roommate, who appeared to have been stabbed in the neck and in the head. Officers secured the scene which allowed Buffalo Grove paramedics to enter and begin rendering aid to the victim. The victim was then transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening wounds. Balladares was transported to a different area hospital for minor wounds sustained during the incident.

Based on the initial investigation, the victim had grown increasingly concerned about Balladares and her behavior after the initial call to police. The victim is believed to have told Balladares he planned on calling the police back to the residence, at which time Balladares attacked him with a knife.

Through further investigation and consultation with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, two charges were approved late Saturday afternoon against Balladares, including Class 1 Attempted Murder and Class 3 Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon.

Balladares, 25, currently remains hospitalized and under police supervision. Upon her release, she will be processed accordingly and taken to Cook County bond court.
