The Buffalo Grove Police Department is hosting its 13th Annual Junior Police Academy, which will be held June 11-15, 2018. Children between the ages of 12-15 are invited to take part in the week-long course, which starts at 10:00 a.m. and runs until noon. Due to the popularity of this program, the Police Department limits the class to Buffalo Grove residents and Buffalo Grove school attendees.
The members of the Community Relations Unit, along with officers assigned to specialized units will educate children in many different areas of policing, including traffic stops, crime scene investigations and evidence collection, building searches and more. Participants will have an opportunity to view a K-9 demonstration, as well as meet and interact with K-9 Hogyn, and his handler, Officer Baron. Graduation is held on the last day of class and family members are encouraged to join.
The Junior Police Academy is a fast paced and exciting week of education for young people interested in learning more about law enforcement. For more information, please contact Crime Prevention Officer Amy Cholewa at 847-459-2560.
