Under the direction of the Training Officer and in conjunction with the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Division of Personnel Standards and Education this program operates daily utilizing a planned schedule of training activities based on the State of Illinois Firefighter Training and Certification Program.
All in-house training is conducted utilizing up to date training aids including video conferencing and computer simulations. Buffalo Grove, Wheeling, Long Grove, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods and Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Departments are also joint operators of the Combined Area Fire Training (CAFT) facility located in Buffalo Grove which is equipped as a state of the art fire training facility. Included in the training program is a complete yearly schedule of Emergency Medical training conducted by Northwest Community Hospital Emergency Medical system. All members of the Department participate in these training programs.
Additional trainings are provided for the members of the Dive Team, the Hazardous Materials Team, the Technical Rescue Specialists Team and the Fire Investigation Team. The training program also provides assistance to all personnel under the village policy manual guidelines for continuing education at the college and State level.
